Top Slow Feeders for Your Dog
Do you use a slow feeder? They present a wide variety of benefits for your pets!
Improves Digestion- Eating too quickly can result in bloating, gas, or discomfort. Sometimes, when my dog eats too fast, she throws up…which is something I definitely want to avoid!
Promotes Mental Stimulation-Slow feeders, and especially puzzle feeders, have obstacles that your dog needs to figure out in order to get what they want the most: food! This keeps them mentally active and engaged.
Can Reduce Behavorial Problems-Bored dogs are naughty dogs! They can’t help it! Once they are mentally stimulated and have had their brain workout, they are much more likely to be calm and well behaved the rest of the day.
Weight Control- When a dog slows down when eating, it is more likely to feel full with the same amount of food. That can reduce hunger (and begging for treats later!) which can help obesity prone dogs stay fit.
Now let’s talk about my favorite slow feeders!
The Freefa slow feeder is one of our favorites! It has awesome ridges that really make our dog work for her food, but it isn’t too challenging where they will get frustrated.
The AoLove Slow Feeder Bowl is another one we love. It is probably the one we use the most! Also, it is also the least expensive out of the bunch. Now there’s a tip for you! :)
The Outward Hound Hide N’ Slide is awesome! It’s so fun to watch our dog’s brain work and figure this one out! I have a video on my Amazon Storefront on how we like to fill it.
Lastly, the Outward Hound Fun Feeder Slo Bowl is another challenging one. This one is pretty narrow, so if your dog has an extra large snout, I might pick a different one!
